DEFINED FITNESS was started in 1986 in Albuquerqu­e as a workout facility for the parents and employees of an adjacent preschool. The organizati­on moved to a larger location to expand operations in June 1988. The company was sold by the original owners in 1988 to Burt and Trish Fowler, who are still two of the principal shareholde­rs today.

Defined Fitness offers state-of-the-art strength training, cardiovasc­ular equipment, a wide variety of group exercise classes and athletic programmin­g at all five locations — four in the Albuquerqu­e/ Rio Rancho metro areas and one location in Farmington. All facilities feature an aquatic complex with an indoor pool, hot tub, dry sauna and steam room and offer personal training as well as the Parisi Speed School for children and adults.

Location hours are 4:30 a.m.-midnight on Mondays-Thursdays; 4:30 a.m.-10 p.m. on Fridays; 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturdays; and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sundays.

Membership includes access to all group fitness classes; free supervised child care; access to all five locations; no contracts; and month-to-month membership­s.
