Atlanta withstands Portland to extend streak to 18

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks overcame 37 points by Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge to extend their franchiser­ecord winning streak to 18 games by beating the Trail Blazers 105-99 on Friday night.

Portland, which has lost four of five, led after each of the first three quarters but couldn’t stretch the advantage to more than six points.

The Hawks have not lost in 2015.

Paul Millsap scored 21 points to lead Atlanta.

CAVALIERS 101, KINGS 90: In Cleveland, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving combined for 44 points, and LeBron James scored 19 in his return from a one-game absence, leading Cleveland past Sacramento for its ninth straight win.

James returned after missing Wednesday’s game with a sprained right wrist.

ROCKETS 93, CELTICS 87: in Boston, Donatas Motiejunas scored 10 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter and had 12 rebounds, leading Houston over Boston for its fourth straight win.

76ERS 103, T’WOLVES 94: In Philadelph­ia, Michael CarterWill­iams had a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Philadelph­ia to a victory over Minnesota in a matchup of two of the league’s worst teams.

Luc Mbah a Moute had a team-high 18 points, and Nerlens Noel and Robert Covington chipped in 14 apiece for the 76ers, who won consecutiv­e games for the third time this season while snapping a streak of 23 straight games without reaching 100 points.

JAZZ 110, WARRIORS 100: In Salt Lake City, Gordon Hayward scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Utah upset the league’s highest- scoring team, Golden State.

It was Jazz’s first win in three tries against the Warriors.

Stephen Curry had his ninth 30-point game of the season and finished with 32.

PELICANS 108, CLIPPERS

103: In New Orleans, Eric Gordon scored 28 points and New Orleans snapped Los Angeles’ six-game winning streak.

With power forward Anthony Davis sitting out because of his sore left groin, the Pelicans benefited from exceptiona­l shooting from behind the 3-point line, hitting 13 of 25, and at the foul line, where they made 23 of 26 free throws, including their last 17.

MAVERICKS 93, HEAT 72: In Miami, Charlie Villanueva scored 20 points, and Dallas went on a 37-2 run in the second half to embarrass Miami.

The win was the 600th for Dallas coach Rick Carlisle, and snapped a four-game los- ing streak.

Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis each scored 12 points for the Mavericks, and Tyson Chandler had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

RAPTORS 127, NETS 122 (OT): In New York, DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points, Amir Johnson made the tiebreakin­g basket with 41 seconds left in overtime, and Toronto beat Brooklyn.

Lou Williams finished with 25 points and Johnson had 24 for the Raptors.

Jarrett Jack scored a careerhigh 35 points for the Nets, and had 13 assists and eight rebounds. Brook Lopez came off the bench for 35 points and 12 boards.

SUNS 99, BULLS 93: In Phoenix, Eric Bledsoe had 23 points and Goran Dragic added 21 as Phoenix survived a furious Chicago rally to beat the Bulls.
