Habs get another shutout

Mason sends Leafs to 9th straight loss

MONTREAL — Nothing is getting past Carey Price these days.

The star goaltender made 36 saves for his second shutout in a row and Max Pacioretty scored 3:08 into overtime as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Washington Capitals 1-0 on Saturday for their fifth straight win.

It was nearly a repeat of Montreal’s last game Thursday against the Rangers in New York, when Price got the shutout and Pacioretty scored late in the third for a 1-0 win.

The Canadiens improved to 15-3-1 in their last 19 games.

RANGERS 4, HURRICANES 1: In New York, Henrik Lundqvist shook off a second-period injury and made 31 saves and Rick Nash moved back into a tie for the goal lead as New York beat Carolina.

The Rangers had lost two straight since the All-Star game, mustering only one goal in the process.

STARS 5, JETS 2: In Winnipeg, Manitioba, John Klingberg had a pair of goals and added two assists as Dallas scored four power-play goals in a victory over Winnipeg.

BRUINS 3, KINGS 1: In Boston, Chris Kelly broke a 1-all tie with 5:27 left in the third period as Boston defeated Los Angeles.

Tuukka Rask stopped 30 shots for the Bruins.

DEVILS 3, PANTHERS 1: In Newark, N.J., rookie Keith Kinkaid stopped 26 shots, and Mike Cammalleri and Steve Bernier each had a goal and an assist as New Jersey beat Florida.

Kinkaid got the start as Cory Schneider rested after facing a season-high 43 shots in the Devils’ 2-1 overtime loss to Pittsburgh on Friday.

SHARKS 2, BLACKHAWKS 0: In San Jose, Calif., Antti Niemi made 31 saves in his 31st career shutout as San Jose won its third straight game by beating Chicago.

LIGHTNING 3, BLUE JACKETS 1: In Tampa, Fla., Cedric Paquette got his fifth goal in the last three games and Ben Bishop made 34 saves as Tampa Bay beat Columbus for its franchise-best 10th straight home victory.

RED WINGS 4, ISLANDERS 1: In Detroit, Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist scored powerplay goals as Detroit beat New York.

SENATORS 7, COYOTES 2: In Ottawa, Mark Stone, Bobby Ryan and Erik Karlsson each had a goal and an assist to help Ottawa beat Arizona.
