A NEW BUSINESS TAX WORKSHOP, presented by the N.M. Taxation & Revenue, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the CNM Workforce Training Center, 5600 Eagle Rock NE. The free workshop is a comprehens­ive look at the Combined Reporting System (CRS) for gross receipts, withholdin­g and compensati­ng tax programs. Topics include nontaxable transactio­n certificat­es; estimated income-tax payments for business owners; deductions and exemptions from gross receipts; special tax programs; audits; and e-file training. Also, a volunteer CPA will discuss federal tax issues including reporting forms, self-employment tax, estimated tax and good record-keeping business practices. Admission is free.

WESST is sponsoring a workshop for business owners and entreprene­urs on How to Use Instagram To Connect With Customers and Showcase Their Offerings, by Amy Lahti, WESST consultant and trainer, from 10 a.m.noon at the WESST Enterprise Center, 609 Broadway NE. The workshop will include a panel of active Instagram users discussing how they use this powerful social-media tool. Panelists include Erin Kleymann - Willa June Jewelry; Sarah Hartford - Hartford Square; and Leah Black - Marble Brewery. The workshop fee is $25.

ERS presents a three-session class, Marketing for Writers by Barbara Lemaire, Ph.D., CEO and chief strategist of Social Media Made Simple, from 1-4 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 7, 14 and 21 at the Carlisle Executive Offices, 3200 Carlisle NE. Topics include participan­ts’ need to market themselves as authors and to promote their writing; answering basic questions about ourselves as writers and our audience; branding; database/ email marketing; blogging and much more. A basic marketing plan will be developed to be modified as your needs change. The course fee is $119 SWW members, $129 for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members, and $139 for others.
