AIGA chapter hosts creative marathon

- JOURNAL STAFF REPORT

The New Mexico chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, is holding a 24-hour creative marathon Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. through Sunday, June 7, at 10 a.m. where technical and creative professionals and students will create innovative solutions to address the communication needs of nonprofit partners on a pro bono basis.

CreateAthon services include website/app design and development, print collateral, brand identity, fundraising campaigns, advertising and marketing strategies, and much more.

Nonprofits often don’t have the resources for professional marketing campaigns. CreateAthon bridges this gap by providing selected New Mexico 501(c)(3) nonprofits with creative and tech services valued at an estimated total of $40,000 at little to no cost.

Print and Web designers, developers, programmers, writers, editors, marketers, advertisers, strategists and those in related fields are invited to join the cause.

The CreateAthon process has been in existence for more than 16 years. Nationally, CreateAthon has partnered with 101 organizations and served more than 1,300 nonprofits, delivering 3,500 projects with a market value of $16.7 million, which has created a ripple effect of helping those who help others.

AIGA New Mexico is accepting applications from local nonprofits until Friday. Professionals and students can sign up to participate anytime between now and May 1.
