Solar grant for Mandy’s Farm
ReChoice, an organization that funds solar installations for nonprofit organizations, has announced a solar grant for Mandy’s Farm, a nonprofit that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We are excited to work with this great organization, giving back to our local community and helping them create a healthy, safe environment at the farm,” says Jonathan Droege, executive director. “We will be giving them solar panels that can provide clean, free energy for the next 25 years.”
“We strongly support sustainability, and this will help us share that commitment within and outside of our organization,” says Melissa McCue, executive director of Mandy’s Farm.
The solar installation will be put up this fall and is expected to offset a significant part of the electricity used by the farm. It will also be built in a way that accommodates future expansion.
Mandy’s Farm assists individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve goals by structuring a positive, purposeful and caring environment for living, learning and working in the community. The clients are taught animal husbandry skills and organic gardening in a beautiful rural setting. They also provide horsemanship programs and have access to a therapeutic pool.
