ART: “The Developmen­t of Native American Easel Art in New Mexico: The Dorothy Dunn Collection.” In the early 20th century, a group of Native Americans began producing a new genre of paintings. Depicting traditiona­l cultural practices and life experience­s, the paintings became known as “easel paintings.” Dorothy Dunn, an art teacher at the Santa Fe Indian School beginning in 1932, encouraged art as a realistic and rewarding vocational choice for students and many Native American artists adopted the distinctiv­e “Dunn Style.” Through February 2016 at the Coronado Historic Site located on U.S. 550 in Bernalillo. The site is open Wednesdays through Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults; children are always free. MASTER GARDENER TRAINING: The Sandoval County Master Gardeners are taking applicatio­ns for the 2016 Master Gardener Training course.
