Iowa handles Michigan State

S. Carolina women remain undefeated

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Peter Jok scored 19 of his 23 points in the first half to help No. 16 Iowa build a huge lead and the Hawkeyes went on to rout No. 4 Michigan State 76-59 on Thursday night.

The Hawkeyes (13-3, 4-0 Big Ten) dominated the Spartans for the second time in two weeks and beat them on the road for the first time since 1993, ending an 18-game losing streak.

Michigan State (16-2, 3-2) was down by 22 points at halftime, its largest deficit at home since at least the 1996-97 season and its biggest anywhere in the regular season since trailing at Michigan by 23 points at halftime in 1997, according to STATS.

Denzel Valentine had a relatively lackluster game with 14 points, five assists and four rebounds for the stunned Spartans.

No. 18 ARIZONA 99, WASHINGTON 67: In Tucson, Mark Anderson scored 21 points, and Kaleb Tarczewski had 16 points and 13 rebounds as Arizona overpowere­d Washington.

Playing their first game without star freshman Allonzo Trier (hand), the Wildcats (14-3, 2-2 Pac12) extended their home winning streak to a nation-best 48 games.

Noah Dickerson had 17 points and Marquese Chriss 13 for Washington (11-5, 3-1).

No. 21 LOUISVILLE 59, No. 20 PITTSBURGH 41: In Louisville, Ky., Chinanu Onuaku had 18 points and 10 rebounds as Louisville ground down Pittsburgh for a victory.

The sophomore center had his fourth consecutiv­e double-double to go with three blocks. Damion Lee scored 18 points for the Cardinals (14-3, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Pitt (14-2, 3-1) saw its 10-game winning streak snapped in by far its worst outing of the season. Michael Young led the Panthers with 18 points and eight rebounds.

BYU 69, No. 25 GONZAGA 68: In Spokane, Wash., Nick Emery hit a 3-pointer with 1:38 left for the lead and BYU hung on to beat Gonzaga. It was the only basket of the game for Emery.

Kyle Collinswor­th scored 20 points and Chase Fischer added 18 for BYU (13-5, 4-1 West Coast Conference), which upset Gonzaga (13-4, 5-1) at home for the second straight season.

No. 2 SOUTH CAROLINA 73, No.

9 KENTUCKY 62: In Lexington, Ky., A’Ja Wilson had 26 points, 13 rebounds and a season-high eight blocks and the Gamecocks (16-0, 4-0 SEC) remained undefeated with a victory over the Wildcats (13-2, 2-2).

The Gamecocks scored a season-low 28 points in the first half, then outscored Kentucky 45-30 in the final two quarters. They pulled away with an 18-8 run.

Tiffany Mitchell added 16 points, and Tina Roy had 12 for the Gamecocks.

No. 3 NOTRE DAME 63, BOSTON COLLEGE 50: In Boston, Marina Mabrey scored 14 points and Brianna Turner had eight points, 13 rebounds and four blocks to help the Fighting Irish (16-1, 5-0 ACC) beat the Eagles (12-4, 0-3).

Madison Cable added 11 points, and Lindsay Allen had 10 for the Fighting Irish. Freshman Mariella Fasoula led Boston College with 20 points.

NORTHWESTE­RN 86, No. 5 OHIO STATE 82: In Evanston, Ill., Maggie Lyon scored 24 points, and Nia Coffey added 23 as Northweste­rn upset Ohio State.

Northweste­rn forced 16 turnovers and scored 23 points off the Buckeyes’ miscues in leading all the way.

Freshman Pallas Kunaiyi Akpanah had 14 points and 14 rebounds for Northweste­rn (134, 2-3 Big Ten). The Wildcats had lost two straight and four of six to fall out of the Top 25.

Kelsey Mitchell led Ohio State (12-4, 4-1) with 28 points, and Ameryst Alston and Alexa Hart each had 12. The Buckeyes had won eight in a row.

No. 24 MISSOURI 66, No. 7 MISSISSIPP­I STATE 54: In Columbia, Mo., Sophie Cunningham scored 18 of her 22 points in the final 15 minutes and Missouri held off Mississipp­i State.

It was Missouri’s first victory over a ranked opponent this season.

Victoria Vivians led Mississipp­i State (16-2, 3-1) with 19 points. The Bulldogs had won 11 straight.

No. 8 MARYLAND 74, MICHIGAN 67: In Ann Arbor, Mich., Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had 15 points and seven rebounds and the Terrapins (15-2, 4-1 Big Ten) shook off the pesky Wolverines (10-6, 2-3).

Tierney Pfirman added 16 points, and Brionna Jones had 13 for Maryland, which had 21 offensive rebounds.

Katelynn Flaherty led the Wolverines with 23 points.

ARKANSAS 64, NO. 13 TENNESSEE 59: In Fayettevil­le, Ark., Jessica Jackson scored 25 points as Arkansas earned its second straight home win over a ranked opponent by defeating Tennessee.

The win is only the third in 29 games for the Razorbacks (7-10, 2-2 Southeaste­rn Conference) against the Lady Vols (11-5, 2-2), and it comes after they trailed by 11 points at halftime.

No. 15 TEXAS A&M 81, OLE MISS 58: In College Station, Texas, Chelsea Jennings had a career-high 29 points and Texas A&M shot 62 percent to beat Ole Miss.

Jennings scored nine in the third quarter, the last coming on a jumper that gave Texas A&M (13-4, 3-1 SEC) a 55-29 lead with 2:33 left. Ole Miss (9-8, 1-3) got no closer than 18 the rest of the way.

No. 16 FLORIDA STATE 85, CLEMSON 40: In Clemson, S.C., Ivey Slaughter and Adut Bulgak scored 18 points apiece to lead Florida State to a win over Clemson.

Emiah Bingley added 13 points and Leticia Romero 12 for the Seminoles (13-4, 3-1 ACC).

Clemson (4-12, 0-3) was led by Nelly Perry with 14 points.

GEORGIA 71, No. 20 FLORIDA 61: In Gainsville, Fla., Tiaria Griffin scored 23 points, Halle Washington had 17 and the Bulldogs (13-4, 1-3 SEC) made 9-of-12 free throws in the final minute to upset the Gators (14-3, 2-2).

No. 21 MIAMI 71, WAKE FOREST

60: In Coral Gables, Fla., Keyona Hayes scored 22 points and Adrienne Motley had 18 to lead Miami over Wake Forest (9-8, 0-4 ACC).

Jessica Thomas added 12 points for the Hurricanes (16-2, 4-1), who made 11-of-13 free throws in the second half and 15 of 18 for the game.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE 65, No. 22 DUKE 62: In Durham, N.C., Dominique Wilson scored 19 points and North Carolina State (13-5, 4-1 ACC) beat Duke (12-6, 1-3) for the Wolfpack’s first victory on the Blue Devils’ home floor since 1996.

No. 23 LOUISVILLE 59, VIRGINIA 41: In Charlottes­ville, Va., Myisha Hines-Allen scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and Mariya Moore had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists to help the Cardinals (13-5, 5-0 ACC) beat the Cavaliers (12-6, 2-2).
