- ROZANNA M. MARTINEZ OF THE JOURNAL

Elvis celebrated another birthday earlier this month. But just as his legacy lives on, so does the celebration at Route 66 Casino Hotel.

This month, Route 66 is hoping to get you “All Shook Up” with some cool promotions that pay homage to “The King.” Head over to Route 66 every Friday for your chance to win the “Ultimate Vegas Vacation” for two. The winner will receive paid airfare and hotel, $500 cash and VIP tickets to “All Shook Up: Tribute to the King” at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nev., according to a Route 66 news release.

Every Saturday in January, one guaranteed winner will walk away with $10,000 cash as part of the “King’s Cash Giveaway.” Drawings are held every Saturday this month at 10 p.m. Come early and earn five times the entries for every 100 points you accrue on your Ultimate Rewards Players Club card while playing your favorite Route 66 games from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stick around for your chance at some free play. Ten $100 free play winners will be chosen at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. every Saturday. Remember, Route 66 is open 24 hours, seven days a week for your gaming pleasure.

Buffet 66 is serving up a “feast fit for a king,” according to the news release. It is offering a 2-for-1 special Mondays through Wednesdays this month for $12.99 when you use your Ultimate Rewards Club card. Buffet 66 offers seven live-action cooking stations with more than 200 menu items for lunch and dinner.

Route 66 also will be hosting some rockin’ shows inside Legends Theater. On Saturday night, celebrate the music of the Eagles with Hotel California’s “A Salute to the Eagles” tribute show. The group will perform many of the Eagles’ greatest hits. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $20 general admission.

The Red Rocker himself, Sammy Hagar, will make a stop at Route 66 on Jan. 22. He will be playing many songs from his extensive music catalog with his band. Tickets are $50-$120. See Page 22 for the story on Sammy Hagar & The Circle.
