Jack R. Hanna, devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the age of 87.

Jack was born January 12, 1929 in Tucumcari, NM, the son of Hugh and Mable Hanna. Jack grew up in Tucumcari where he was a high school athlete who received multiple varsity letters for his accomplish­ments in basketball, football and track. After graduation from Tucumcari High School in 1947, Jack attended Eastern New Mexico University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. Upon graduation Jack served in the United States Army in the early 1950’s during the Korean War. Jack was awarded multiple service medals and received an honorable discharge. Jack married Marilyn Spencer on August 2, 1963 and they were blessed to have a son, Joe. His son Joe and wife Amy graced Jack and Marilyn with two grandchild­ren, Mark and Sara. Jack always enjoyed supporting and encouragin­g his family members in their many endeavors such as Indian Guides, football, swimming, snow skiing, camping, biking, diving, lacrosse and gymnastics.

Jack worked for 40 years at Sandia National Laboratori­es in Albuquerqu­e, NM. He retired in 1992 and spent many years traveling with Marilyn in their Airex and Winnebago RV’s. They traveled most of the 50 states and parts of Canada where they enjoyed meeting friends and seeing many sights along the way.

Jack leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Marilyn; their son, Joe Hanna (Amy) of Auburn, AL; and his two grandchild­ren, Mark (17) and Sara (13).

A memorial service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 9500 Constituti­on Ave., NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the American Heart Associatio­n, 2201 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87110.
