Fish, Cecil B.

-

Cecil B. Fish, wife of the late Rev. Charles E. Fish passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the age of 95. Cecil was blessed to live life to its fullest until she took a fall on her afternoon walk and was not able to survive her injuries. Cecil was born and raised in Lebanon, KY with her grandmother, parents and six brothers. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. Cecil had an exciting career at IBM in New York City, where she met and fell in love with Charlie and they were married the following year, 1948. Charlie and Cecil greatly enjoyed three years in Costa Rica, where they welcomed two sons. They then went to Hamilton, OH where their daughter was born. In 1956, they moved to Albuquerque where Charlie was rector of St. Mark’s on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church for 25 years. St. Mark’s has been an integral part of Cecil’s life ever since and she was still actively involved. She loved and appreciated the many wonderful people at St. Mark’s who shared their lives with her and Charlie. In the 1960’s Charlie and Cecil built a cabin in the mountains near Taos, where they, their children and their children’s friends enjoyed summers for many years. After her children left home, Cecil taught and was principal at the Girls’ Welfare Home, where she found working with the girls to be a great privilege. After Charlie’s death, Cecil moved to La Vida Llena so she would have an opportunity to more easily share her life with others. She was blessed with many good friends there. Cecil was truly a woman of love, who generously gave of herself to all around her. She loved people and treasured all her friends and family. She was wise, kind and funny and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Cecil is survived by son Charles C. (Tad) Fish and wife Sonnie; son John B. Fish; daughter Elizabeth C. Reardon and husband Mike; granddaughter Maggie Hinsch and husband Anderson; grandson David C. Fish; her grandson Spencer C. Reardon; great granddaughter Marley Hinsch; great grandson Mac Hinsch; her brother Bob Brewer; and many nieces and nephews.
