Anaheim overtakes LA for division lead

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Minnesota Wild is finding new ways to win on its push toward the playoffs.

Jason Pominville scored in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Wild a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

It was the first shootout victory of the season for the Wild and the second time in 25 games this season that the Wild won when trailing at the start of the third period.

Minnesota has won four in a row.

DUCKS 3, KINGS 2: In Los Angeles, David Perron scored the go-ahead power-play goal in the second period as Anaheim earned its 11th consecutiv­e victory, beating Los Angeles and taking over sole possession of the Pacific Division lead from its Southern California rival.

The Ducks trailed the Kings by 16 points on Jan. 20.

Frederik Andersen made 32 saves for Anaheim.

COYOTES 5, PANTHERS 1:

In Glendale, Ariz., Alex Tanguay scored two goals and added an assist in his Arizona debut, and Antoine Vermette had a goal and three assists and as the Coyotes ended a seven-game losing streak with a victory over Florida.

Louis Domingue stopped 29 shots for Arizona.

CAPITALS 2, BRUINS 1 (OT): In Boston, Matt Niskanen scored in overtime and backup Philipp Grubauer stopped 33 shots to lead Washington to a victory over Boston.

Niskanen’s goal on a slapper from the blue line beat Tuukka Rask 2:36 into overtime. Karl Alzner also scored for Washington.

FLAMES 4, PENGUINS 2: In Pittsburgh, Mikael Backlund scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Lance Bouma added another goal in the third as Calgary ended a seven-game losing streak with a win against Pittsburgh.

Backlund scored his 13th and Bouma his second of the season. Joe Colborne scored his 11th of the season and Mark Giordano his 16th for the Flames, who won in Pittsburgh for the first time

in more than a decade.

LIGHTNING 4, HURRICANES 3: In Tampa, Fla., Alex Killorn scored with 42.5 seconds left in overtime as Tampa Bay won a teamrecord ninth straight game by beating Carolina.

Killorn skated around a Carolina defenseman and through the slot before beating Hurricanes goalie Eddie Lack.

PREDATORS 5, AVA

LANCHE 2: In Denver, Mike Fisher broke a tie with 9:44 remaining in a four-goal third period and Pekka Rinne stopped 34 shots as Nashville ran its streak to 12 straight games with at least a point by beating Colorado.

The Predators haven’t lost in regulation since Feb. 9 as they improve to 8-0-4 during the streak. James Neal tied the game 62 seconds into the final period.

FLYERS 6, BLUE JACKETS 0: In Philadelph­ia, Radko Gudas scored one of his two goals from 91 feet and added two assists, and Steve Mason made 19 saves in his return to the net after sitting out five games as Philadelph­ia beat Columbus.

Michael Raffl, Claude Giroux, Sam Gagner and Nick Cousins also scored for the Flyers, who moved within three points of Pittsburgh for the final playoff spot in the East.

JETS 4, CANADIENS 2: In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mark Scheifele’s first career hat trick lifted Winnipeg over Montreal.

Scheifele’s empty-netter late in the third period completed his three-goal performanc­e and helped snap Winnipeg’s six-game home winless streak.

CANUCKS 4, SHARKS 2: In San Jose, Calif., Dan Hamhuis scored Vancouver’s third power-play goal midway through the third period and Jacob Markstrom robbed San Jose twice in the final 20 minutes to help the Canucks beat the Sharks.

Linden Vey and Daniel Sedin also scored power-play goals and Alexandre Burrows sealed it with an empty-netter for the Canucks.

SENATORS 3, MAPLE LEAFS 2: In Toronto, Zack Smith scored the go-ahead goal with 2:15 remaining as Ottawa beat Toronto.
