Siakam leads Aggies’ rout

KU extends streak; No. 7 Miami falls

EDINBURG, Texas — Pascal Siakam scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as New Mexico State routed Texas Rio Grande Valley 83-44 on Saturday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Western Athletic Conference regular-season champion Aggies (22-9, 13-1) will play in the conference tournament semifinals Friday at 7 p.m. MT in Las Vegas, Nev., against the winner of Thursday’s quarterfin­al between UM-KC and Utah Valley.

Texas Rio Grande Valley is 8-21, 4-10.

Siakam was 10-for-17 from the floor. Ian Baker added 11 points for NMSU.

No. 1 KANSAS 85, No. 21

IOWA STATE 78: In Lawrence, Kan., Perry Ellis scored 22 points, including a hook shot over Iowa State’s Georges Niang to ice the game, as Kansas stretched its nationlead­ing home win streak to 42 games with a win over the Cyclones.

Devonte Graham and Wayne Selden Jr. finished with 16 points apiece for Kansas (27-4, 15-3 Big 12).

Kansas looked poised to break the game open with 13:21 left before Iowa State responded with a 13-2 run to grab its largest — and last — lead at 63-59.

Niang led the Cyclones (2110, 10-8) with 22 points.

VA. TECH 77, No. 7 MIAMI

62: In Blacksburg, Va., Justin Bibbs scored 19 points to lead Tech to a win over Miami.

Bibbs was 7-for-10 from the floor, including five 3-pointers, to lift the Hokies (1813, 10-8 ACC) to their fifth straight win.

Miami (24-6, 13-5) had won eight of its past nine.

No. 2 MICH. STATE 91, OHIO

STATE 76: In East Lansing, Mich., Denzel Valentine had 27 points and 13 assists as MSU beat Ohio State.

The Spartans (26-5, 13-5 Big Ten) have won 10 of their last 11 games, earning the No. 2 seed in the league tourney.

OSU (19-12, 11-7) were led by Marc Loving’s 21 points.

No. 3 VILLANOVA 84,

GEORGETOWN 71: In Philadelph­ia, Josh Hart scored 18 points as Villanova beat Georgetown (14-17 Big East).

The Big East champion Wildcats (27-4, 16-2) dominated from the opening tip. L.J. Peak led Georgetown.

No. 4 VIRGINIA 68, No. 11

LOUISVILLE 46: In Charlottes­ville, Va., Mike Tobey had 15 points and 20 rebounds as Virginia stifled Louisville for the second time this season.

The game was the last of the season for Louisville (238, 12-6 ACC), which has selfimpose­d a postseason ban for this year for recruiting violations. Malcolm Brogdon had 17 points and Anthony Gill 15 for the Cavaliers (24-6, 13-5).

No. 5 XAVIER 98, CREIGH

TON 93: In Cincinnati, Trevon Bluiett hit a pair of 3s that got Xavier going in the second half as the Musketeers matched their school record for regular-season victories by beating Creighton.

Xavier (26- 4, 14- 4) has clinched the No. 2 seed in the Big East tourney.

Creighton is 18-13, 9-9.

No. 6 OKLAHOMA 75, TCU

67: In Fort Worth, Buddy Hield scored 21 points as Oklahoma beat TCU.

Hield was 7-for-12 from the field for OU (24-6, 12-6 Big 12).

Brandon Parrish scored 20 points for TCU (11-20, 2-16).

No. 8 NORTH CAROLINA

76, No. 17 DUKE 72: In Durham, N.C., Brice Johnson had 18 points and 21 rebounds as UNC beat Duke to earn the top seed in the ACC Tournament.

Kennedy Meeks added 12 points to help the Tar Heels (25-6, 14-4).

Grayson Allen had 29 points for the Blue Devils (22-9, 11-7).

No. 9 OREGON 76, USC: In Los Angeles, Tyler Dorsey scored 19 points as Oregon beat USC to clinch the Pac-12 title outright.

Oregon (25-6, 14-4) overcame a 20-minute power outage in the first half to win.

USC (20-11, 9-9) lost to Oregon for the 12th straight time.

No. 10 WEST VIRGINIA 69,

No. 19 BAYLOR 58: In Waco, Texas, Jaysean Paige had 14 points as WVU earned second place in the Big 12 with a win at Baylor (21-10, 10-8).

West Virginia (24-7, 13-5) is on a four-game win streak.

No. 13 UTAH 57, COLORADO 55: In Salt Lake City, Jakob Poetl had 16 points as Utah rallied past Colorado.

The Utes (24-7, 13-5) go into the Pac-12 Tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Buffaloes (2110, 10-8)) will be the No. 5 seed.

No. 16 IOWA 71, MICHIGAN 61: In Ann Arbor, Mich., Jarrod Uthoff scored 29 points as Iowa (21-9, 12-6 Big Ten) snapped a four-game losing streak by beating Michigan.

The Wolverines (20-11, 10-8) were led by Derrick Walton’s 14 points.

No. 18 ARIZONA 94, STAN

FORD 62: In Tucson, senior Gabe York made nine 3-pointers and scored 32 points in Arizona’s rout of Stanford.

The victory by the Wildcats (24-7, 12-6) earned them a first-round bye in the Pac12 tourney. Roscoe Allen and Marcus Allen scored 16 apiece

for Stanford (15-14, 8-10).

No. 20 TEXAS A&M 76,

VANDERBILT 67: In College Station, Texas, Jalen Jones scored 17 points as Texas A&M earned a share of its first regular-season league title in 30 years.

Freshmen Tyler Davis added 16 for the Aggies (24-7, 13-5 SEC). Wade Baldwin IV and Damian Jones each scored 11 points for Vandy (19-12, 11-7).

No. 22 KENTUCKY 94, LSU

77: In Lexington, Ky., Jamal Murray scored 22 points as Kentucky beat LSU to claim a share of the SEC title.

The Wildcats (23-8, 13-5) finished tied with Texas A&M and will have the No. 2 seed in the league tournament. Tim Quarterman’s 23 points led LSU (18-13, 11-7).

No. 25 CAL 68, ARIZONA

STATE 65: In Tempe, Ariz., Tyrone Wallace scored 24 points to lead Cal to a victory over ASU (15-16, 5-13 Pac-12).

Wallace scored 19 points in the second half for the Bears (22-9, 12-6).

OREGON STATE 86, UCLA

82: In Los Angeles, former UNM coach Steve Alford and the Bruins (15-16, 6-12 Pac12) capped one of their worst regular seasons since the pre-John Wooden days with a home loss.

Stephen Thompson Jr. scored 23 points to lead Oregon State (18-11, 9-9).

The Beavers led 68-52 with 5:31 to play, only to see UCLA storm back to make it 83-82.

OHIO VALLEY FINAL: In Nashville, Tenn., freshman Jared Savage scored 24 points as Austin Peay (18-17) upset No. 2 seed UT Martin 83-73 to earn an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.

IVY TITLE: In New York, Makai Mason scored 22 points to lead Yale (22-6, 13-1) to a 71-55 victory over Columbia (21-10, 10-4), clinching the Bulldogs’ first NCAA Tournament bid since 1962.

SAN JOSE STATE 68, BOISE

STATE 63: In San Jose, Calif., Brandon Clarke had 21 points and 10 rebounds as San Jose State snapped a six-game losing streak with a win over Boise State.

The Spartans (9-21, 4-14) will have the No. 11 seed in the MWC tourney. Boise State (20-11, 11-7) has the No. 3 seed.

FRESNO STATE 86, UTAH

STATE 85: In Logan, Utah, Marvelle Harris scored 34 points as Fresno State beat Utah State to clinch the No. 2 seed in the MWC Tournament.

FSU (22-9, 13-5) will play in Thursday’s semifinals. Utah State (15-14, 7-11) opens the tournament Wednesday.

COLORADO STATE 87, AIR

FORCE 73: In Fort Collins, Colo., John Gillon scored 11 of his 22 points during a pivotal second-half surge as Colorado State beat Air Force.

Gillon hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points during a 23-2 run that put the Rams (16-15, 8-10) up 54-39 with 10 minutes remaining. AFA is 14-17, 5-13.

SAN DIEGO STATE 92, UNLV 56: In San Diego, the host Aztecs (23-8, 16-2) got 18 points apiece from Winston Shepard and Trey Kell to beat UNLV (17-14, 8-10).

WYOMING: The Cowboys (14-17, 7-11) suspended five players for the MWC Tournament for unspecifie­d reasons.

Coach Larry Shyatt says junior guard Morris Marshall, sophomore forward Hayden Dalton, freshman guard Justin James, freshman forward Andrew Moemeka and freshman guard Austin Conway have been suspended for the remainder of the season.
