Aztecs withstand Utah State rally
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Perry Ellis scored 21 points, Frank Mason III added 16 and topranked Kansas (28- 4) ran roughshod over eighth-seeded Kansas State (17-16), 85-63, on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament.
The Jayhawks coasted for much of the second half on their way to a semifinal matchup tonight with No. 22 Baylor.
No. 3 VILLANOVA 81, GEORGETOWN 67:
In New York, Josh Hart scored 25 points, Ryan Arcidiacono added 19 points and six assists, and top-seeded Villanova (284) beat eighth-seeded Georgetown (15-18) to open its bid for consecutive Big East Tournament titles.
Villanova meets Providence in today’s semifinals.
No. 4 VIRGINIA 72, GEORGIA TECH 52:
In Washington, with its typical stingy defense, plus 26 points from conference player of the year Malcolm Brogdon, Virginia (25-6) moved into the ACC Tournament semifinals by beating Georgia Tech (19-14).
No. 5 XAVIER 90, MARQUETTE 72:
In New York, Trevon Bluiett matched his career high with 24 points and Xavier (27-4) dominated from start to finish in a victory over Marquette (20-13) in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament.
Xavier advanced to today’s semifinals to face the thirdseeded Seton Hall .

In Kansas City, Mo., Buddy Hield scored 39 points, Ryan Spangler made a series of critical plays down the stretch and thirdseeded Oklahoma (24-6) beat sixth-seeded Iowa State (2111) in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals.

In Washington, North Carolina (26-6) got off to a fast start at the ACC Tournament as the regularseason champion routed Pittsburgh (20-11). The Tar Heels will face Notre Dame in the semifinals today.

In Las Vegas, Nev., Chris Boucher had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and top-seeded Oregon (26-6) withstood a late flurry to hold off Washington (18-14) in the Pac12 Tournament quarterfinals.
The Ducks earned a spot in tonight’s semifinals against No. 15 Arizona.

In Kansas City, Mo., Devin Williams had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead second-seeded West Virginia (25-7) over TCU in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. West Virginia faces No. 6 Oklahoma in the semifinals today.

Las Vegas, Kyle Kuzma broke out of a scoring slump, missing one shot while scoring 23 points to help lift second-seeded Utah (25-7) to a win over Southern California (21-12) in the Pac-12 quarterfinals.
The Utes earned a spot in today’s semifinals against No. 24 California or Oregon State.

In Las Vegas, Nev., Allonzo Trier scored 23 points, Ryan Anderson had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and thirdseeded Arizona (25-7) held on to beat fifth-seeded Colorado (22-11) in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals. The Wildcats face No. 8 Oregon in tonight’s semifinals.

In Washington, looking exhausted down the stretch, defending national champion Duke (23-10) gave away a 16-point, second-half lead against Notre Dame (21-10) and lost in overtime in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

In Indianapolis, Jalen Coleman-Lands scored 17 points and Malcolm Hill broke a tie with a 16-foot jumper with 1:14 to go, helping Illinois (15-18) to a stunning upset of Iowa (21-10) in the Big Ten Tournament. Illinois faces No. 13 Purdue in today’s quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs will face the Boise State-Colorado State winner tonight.
