Montano, Celida Viola Gallegos

Celida Viola Gallegos Montano, 92, died March 9, 2016 in Albuquerqu­e. She was born on February 2, 1924 to Amalia Atencio and Aurelio Gallegos of Ortiz, Colorado. She graduated from high school and worked in retail customer service until the age of 24 when she married Jose Nestor Montano. They were married for 30 years, moved to Albuquerqu­e, and had four children. She was a homemaker and cafeteria cook for the Albuquerqu­e Public Schools.

Mrs. Montano is survived by daughters, Mary Caroline Montano, Elizabeth Montano Baca and Claire Smith (Duane); and son, J. Nestor Montano, Jr. (Maritza); as well as grandchild­ren, Emily Army, Nicholas Army (Angela), Celida Bruss (Jon), Stacie Simpson, Christophe­r Baca (Seth), Monica Baca (Victor Loeras), Violeta Baca (Ruben Castro); and greatgrand­children, Madison Army, Uriah Army, Izabella Simpson and Oliver Mark Loeras. She is also survived by sisters, Lily Garcia, Frieda Alderete, Evelyn Ortiz, Gloria Chacon and Martha Abeyta.

She is preceded in death by husband, Jose Nestor Montano; father, Aurelio Gallegos; mother, Amalia Atencio Gallegos; brothers, John "Frank" Gallegos, Willie Atencio, Walter Gallegos, and Aurelio Gallegos Jr., aunt, Ruby Gonzales; sister, Teresita Madril; granddaugh­ter, Shellie Smith; and son-inlaw, George Baca.

Rosary will be recited Friday, March 11, 2016, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Friends and family may visit beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 12, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciati­on Parish, 2621 Vermont St. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
