Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in northeast Albuquerque Thursday night, according to a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department.

Officer Daren DeAguero said police were called to the Chevron gas station on Eubank near Lomas around 8:30 p.m. about a person being hit.

“The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on scene,” DeAguero said. “The vehicle fled the area after striking the pedestrian. At this time it has not been located.”

The crash is being investigated as a violent crime, DeAguero said.

Northbound Eubank was closed from Lomas to Interstate 40 while officers investigated.

No other information was immediately available.
