Jose C. (Red) Roybal died March 28, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Albuquerqu­e, NM. Red was a life-long resident of Upper San Pedro just outside the city limits of Espanola, NM. Red was born November 21, 1929 and up until three months ago was driving and living life in Espanola. Red as a young man was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg NC. Upon returning home he started as a bartender at the Arrow Bar in Espanola and soon become the owner of Red’s Steak House and Lounge. He operated the business for over 54 years, Red was 86 years old.

Red was preceded in death by wife, Suzanna Velarde Roybal; parents, Jose Abran and Eliza Roybal; brothers, Severo, Juan and Elu Roybal.

Jose is survived by his three daughters, Liz, Lucille and Carmen Roybal.

Rosary will be Friday, April 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at Mission at San Jose in Los Duranes, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW. Directions are North on Rio Grande 1 mile, West on Zickert (one block North of Indian School Road), North on Los Luceros. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE.
