Economists predict that the pace of hiring in the U.S. slowed in March after a strong increase the previous month.

They expect the Labor Department will report today that nonfarm employers added 200,000 jobs last month. That would be down from a gain of 242,000 in February. That increase didn’t move the nation’s unemployment rate, which held steady at 4.9 percent.
