Warriors lose at home, need 4 wins to set record

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Golden State Warriors hit an unexpected obstacle on their quest for a record 73 wins, blowing a 17-point lead and losing 124-117 in overtime to the last-place Minnesota Timberwolv­es on Tuesday night.

Shabazz Muhammad scored a career-high 35 points and Andrew Wiggins had 32 as Minnesota prevented Golden State (69-9) from becoming the second team to win 70 games in a season. The Warriors now must win their final four games to break the singleseas­on wins record of 72 set by Chicago in 1995-96.

THUNDER 124, NUGGETS

102 : In Denver, Russell Westbrook had 13 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists to become the first player with 17 triple-doubles in a season in 27 years, and Oklahoma City routed Denver.

Westbrook has the highest total since Magic Johnson had 17 for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1988-89.

Kevin Durant had 26 points and eight assists for Oklahoma City. The Thunder is locked into the No. 3 seed in the West with four games left.

76ERS 107, PELICANS 93: In Philadelph­ia, Carl Landry scored 22 points to lead Philadelph­ia to a victory over injury-depleted New Orleans, ensuring that the 76ers won’t tie their own league record for fewest victories in an 82-game season.

Philadelph­ia improved to 10-68 and now is one win clear of the 1972-73 76ers, who set an NBA mark for futility with a 9-73 mark. The 76ers have four games remaining.

The Pelicans were missing nearly 100 points of scoring without injured players Anthony Davis (left knee), Ryan Anderson (sports hernia), Tyreke Evans (right knee), Eric Gordon (fractured right ring finger), Jrue Holiday (right inferior orbital wall fracture) and Norris Cole (lower back).

RAPTORS 96, HORNETS 90: In Toronto, DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points, Kyle Lowry had 12 of his 21 in the fourth quarter and Toronto beat Charlotte, handing the Hornets back-to-back losses for the first time in more than two months.

Jonas Valanciuna­s had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Corey Joseph added 11 points, as the Raptors won for the third time in four games.

Charlotte, which lost at Cleveland on Sunday, had not lost consecutiv­e games since defeats at Utah and Portland on Jan. 27 and 29. They Hornets had won 22 of 29 since.

SPURS 88, JAZZ 86: In Salt Lake City, Kawhi Leonard made the go-ahead jumper with 4.9 seconds left and scored 18 points as San Antonio won its 65th game by beating Utah, giving Tim Duncan his 1,000th regular-season victory.

Rodney Hood missed the potential winning 3-pointer at the buzzer as Utah fell a half-game behind Dallas for seventh place in the Western Conference. The Jazz remained in the No. 8 slot, a half-game ahead of the Houston Rockets.

HEAT 107, PISTONS 89: In Miami, Goran Dragic scored 22 points to lead six Miami players in double figures as the Heat beat Detroit.

Josh Richardson also had 16 for Miami (45-32), which

remained in fifth place in the airtight Eastern Conference playoff race.

GRIZZLIES 108, BULLS 92: In Memphis, Tenn., Zach Randolph had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Vince Carter added 17 points as Memphis snapped a six-game losing streak with a victory over Chicago.

CAVALIERS 109, BUCKS

80: In Milwaukee, J.R. Smith scored 21 points by going 7 of 11 from 3-point range to lead hot-shooting Cleveland over Milwaukee.

Kevin Love added 17 points and shot 3 of 6 from behind the arc for the Cavaliers, who maintained a 3½-game lead over Toronto for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

HAWKS 103, SUNS 90: In Atlanta, Jeff Teague scored 20 points, Kent Bazemore added 17 and Atlanta rallied from 13 down in the third quarter to beat Phoenix.

Atlanta avoided its first three-game losing streak since Feb. 19-22 and moved one-half game ahead of idle Boston for third place in the Eastern Conference.

TRAIL BLAZERS 115, KINGS 107: In Sacramento, Calif., CJ McCollum made five 3-pointers and scored 30 points to lead Portland over Sacramento.

CLIPPERS 103, LAKERS 81: In Los Angeles, Chris Paul scored 25 points and the Clippers defeated the Lakers, beating their Staples Center co-tenants for the 10th straight time in Kobe Bryant’s last game as a visitor in his home arena.
