Ex-teacher faces child porn charges
A former Albuquerque charter school teacher is facing child pornography charges after an investigation by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
John Wernly, 30, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession with the intent to distribute child pornography after deputies found dozens of pornographic images showing children between the ages of 5 and 8, according to a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.
Wernly used to be a teacher at the Albuquerque School of Excellence, a charter school near Lomas and Tramway, BCSO spokeswoman Felicia Romero said.
Romero didn’t say when Wernly taught there or what subject or grade he taught.
She asked anyone with more information to contact the investigating detective at (505) 886-1065.
