WINGS FOR LIFE INTERNATIO­NAL will hold its fourth annual Celebratio­n of Champions, honoring longtime supporters Charlie and Shirley Villa, on Sept. 7. This event will feature a not-so-silent auction, a seated dinner and an after party. The auction, 5:30 p.m., and dinner, 6:30 p.m., will be at the Hotel Albuquerqu­e Alvarado Ballroom. MEALS ON WHEELS, Is in need of regular route drivers and substitute drivers to deliver meals to their homebound clients for the Albuquerqu­e downtown and surroundin­g areas. Once a week for one or two hours. Meals are delivered between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. PAWS THRIFT STORE: seeks volunteers to assist customers and to prepare donated items for sale. Profits from Paws Thrift Store supports Cottonwood Cats Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission of creating a comfortabl­e and safe permanent home for cats who outlive their human caretakers and geriatric cats who have failed to be adopted from local shelters. Mentoring also improves a child’s self esteem and communicat­ion skills.
