Virginia Inez Gordon, 91, passed away August 24, 2016 at home in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico.

Virginia was born at home in Tennessee on March 13, 1925. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Richard Taylor, her brother and his wife Robert andGeorgin­a Taylor, and her two grandsons Bailey and Patrick Nelson.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 72 years Robert Gordon, her daughters Elaine O’Neil and Joyce McAdams; grandchild­ren Coleen Nelson, Meegan Schanning, and Melanie Madrid; her greatgrand­children, David, Zachary, Abigail, Michael and Oliver, and nephews Allen, Tyson, Keith and David Taylor.

Virginia tested and received her first class radio license before she was 18 years old. She worked as an air traffic controller in Memphis before moving to New Jersey to get married. There she got a job as the chief engineer for WCAP radio station. Later she moved to Jackson, Tennessee with her husband and worked for WTJS radio station as an engineer while Robert worked as chief engineer. During this time both daughters were born. The family moved to New Mexico in December of 1952. Virginia got a job working for KANW radio station as an engineer and Robert worked for KGGM TV as an engineer. Later she worked as a vacation relief operator for KOB TV engineers. Virginia enjoyed taking care of her family, painting, being a first class ham radio operator, gardening and reading. There was never a stranger who came to her door, everyone was welcomed and fed. She was much loved and will be missed by all that knew her.
