Gerald Alma Robertson, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Gerald was born in Gooding, Idaho on November 17, 1932. He served honorably in the

U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1977, including a term of service in Vietnam. Gerald received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineerin­g from the Air Force Institute of Technology. While in the Air Force, Gerald met his wife, Karen, in 1957. As an Air Force family, Gerald and Karen resided in many locations during his military career: California, Mississipp­i, Ohio, Hawaii, Montana and Florida, with their six children born in many of these different states. In 1977, Gerald relocated to Albuquerqu­e, where he was employed in the defense industry until his retirement in 1990. Gerald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many church leadership positions, including as a Bishop multiple times. He also had a passion for searching out his ancestors, so in 1992 he and Karen left to serve an 18-month mission at the Church’s Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gerald cherished the opportunit­y to serve in the Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico Temple for the last 16 years of his life. He was a humble, loving husband and father whose primary concern was his family’s well-being.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Phyllis Robertson; his son, Gerald Randall Robertson (Becky), and his brothers, Donald Robertson and Ron Robertson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Karen; his brother, Larry Robertson; his sisters, Carole Finch and Judy Henry; his daughters, Donna Thurgood (Lynn), Eileen Porter (Doug) and Lori Lenberg (Robert); his sons, Timothy Robertson (Christy) and Eric Robertson (Raquel); and a posterity of 20 grandchild­ren and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

A viewing will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:00 a. m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4500 Seven Bar Loop Road NW in Albuquerqu­e. A viewing will be held prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Missionary or Humanitari­an funds,
