Siemian remains questionable

Kubiak to decide on his quarterback today

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Trevor Siemian is on track to return to the Denver Broncos’ starting lineup Sunday at Tennessee barring a setback.

Coach Gary Kubiak listed Siemian as 50-50 but said that if he shows up today like he did Friday — without pain or soreness and able to move around — he’ll be under center when Denver (8-4) faces Tennessee (6-6).

Siemian showed mobility and zip at practice Friday while again splitting snaps with Paxton Lynch.

Kubiak said he’ll make his decision today, but it was apparent the start is Siemian’s if his health allows.

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall posted on social media a racist, threatening letter that denounced him for taking a knee during the national anthem earlier this season. He said he wanted to expose the racism that exists in society.

Marshall said he received the letter a couple of weeks ago and turned it over to the team’s security department, which has been in contact with the NFL and local law enforcement.

CHIEFS: There is an argument to be made that the AFC West is the best division in the NFL.

There is little argument to be made that Kansas City is the class of it.

After dispatching the Raiders 21-13 on a frigid Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs are tied with them for the lead at 10-3 with three games left in the regular season. But they hold the tiebreaker thanks to two head-to-head wins over Oakland, which could loom large down the stretch.

Denver is at 9-4 and has games remaining against both teams.

“Every division game has got to be a playoff game. It’s going to be something more,” Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said Thursday night.

VIKINGS: Standout safety Harrison Smith and starting center Joe Berger will not be on the field when Minnesota plays at Jacksonville on Sunday.

Smith was ruled out on Friday with a severely sprained left ankle, while Berger will miss his second straight game with a concussion.

But there’s good news with coach Mike Zimmer returning to the team after missing the previous game because of a detached retina.

He plans to coach Sunday from the sideline, not the coaches’ booth, while wearing special-made sunglasses as he returns from a series of surgeries to repair in his right eye.

RAIDERS: Suspended Oakland pass rusher Aldon Smith met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday in hopes of being reinstated from his substance-abuse ban.

A person with knowledge of the meeting said Smith sat with the commissioner and other league staff members to make his case to be allowed back on the field following his yearlong suspension for violating rules on substance abuse.

Oakland and Alameda County leaders will vote Tuesday on a financial and development plan to build a $1.3 billion football stadium at the Coliseum site to keep the Raiders from moving to Las Vegas, Nev.

Mayor Libby Schaaf and other local leaders presented details Friday of the plan reached with the Ronnie Lott Group and Fortress Investment Group. Schaaf said the deal is “responsible to the team, the league, the fans and the taxpayers.”

The Raiders had no comment on the plan. Owner Mark Davis is committed to moving to Las Vegas, Nev.

SAINTS: The NFL said New Orleans safety Kenny Vaccaro will serve a four-game suspension, starting this Sunday at Tampa Bay, because he violated league rules pertaining to performance enhancing drug use.

DOLPHINS: Miami might be without two starting linebackers Sunday against Arizona. Kiko Alonso has an injured thumb and hamstring. Jelani Jenkins has an ailing knee and hand.

49ERS: San Francisco signed tight end Vance McDonald to a five-year contract extension Friday through the 2021 season.
