Monette, Marliss Foutz

Marliss Foutz Monette passed away Friday, December 16, 2016. She was born in Gallup, NM on July 3, 1965, to Arliss and Bette (Jonas) Foutz. She graduated from Gallup High School and went on to attend New Mexico State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in business. She was employed at New Mexico Tech for 16 years, and was known as a strong and caring student advocate with a positive attitude and can-do spirit. She was an active member of San Miguel Catholic Church and served as a Eucharisti­c Minister and a member of the Finance Council. She loved Beta Sigma Phi and her sisters.

She was devoted to her family. She met her husband Danny while attending NMSU and they married in 1985. She raised three children Rhiannon (Scotty Crespin), Cooper and Danielle and doted on her two granddaugh­ters, Ryan and Drew Crespin, who she is survived by. She is also survived by her parents Arliss and Bette Foutz, brother Mike, sister Cammie (Kurt Wicketts), mother-in-law Charlotte Monette, sisters and brother-in-law Debbie (Chet DeMoss), Denise, David (Patti), Darren, and Donald (Pam), their children and grandchild­ren and a host of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father in law, Chuck Monette and her niece, Tammy Fowler.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 20, 2016, from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral-Services-Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro.

Services for Marliss are scheduled to begin with the recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 am on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, followed by the Mass of Resurrecti­on, Celebrant Father Andrew Pavlak. Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service.

Pallbearer­s are Kurt Wicketts, Donald Monette, David Monette, Darren Monette, Chet DeMoss and Jim Cooper. Honorary pallbearer­s are Kyle Wicketts, Travis Fowler, Ernie Sichler, Craig Sichler, Cadyn Monette and Tucker Perdue.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarshi­p at New Mexico Tech has been set up in Marliss’ name. Donations to the Marliss Monette Memorial Scholarshi­p Fund can be sent to New Mexico Tech, 801 Leroy Place, Socorro, NM 87801.
