Funeral services for Reginald Charlie Begay, 53, U.S. Army Combat Veteran with the 82nd Airborne Division Afghanista­n, Bronze Star recipient, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Riverside Chapel Funeral home located at 225 San Mateo N.E. Albuquerqu­e, NM. Burial services with full military honors will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. in Santa Fe, NM with reception immediatel­y following at The Lodge at Santa Fe.

Begay died December 13, 2016 in Albuquerqu­e, NM. He was born April 11, 1963, in Gallup, NM, into the Red Cheek People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.

Reginald graduated from Chinle High School. He attended New Mexico State University. He worked with the Navajo Nation Fire and Rescue/EMT and rose to the rank of Captain. In 1991, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and studied Aviation at Emery Riddle Aeronautic­al University.

Reginald enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, riding dirt bikes, grilling at family barbecues, helping family, friends and relatives.

Reginald is survived by his wife Cynthia Begay: sons Royce C. Begay, Russell C. Begay; daughter Amber C. Begay; grandson Russell C. Begay Jr.; broth- ers Ronald C. Begay, Gerald C. Begay; sister Regina C. Roanhorse; father Thomas H. Begay, Navajo Code Talker WWII Iwo Jima Survivor and Korean War Veteran. He was preceeded in death by his mother Nonabah D. Begay.

Pallbearer­s are Royce Begay, Russell Begay, Kristopher Roanhorse, Kameron Roanhorse, Kurt Adakai, and John Grady. Honorary Pallbearer­s Eddie Molina, Pierce Molina, and Nathan Scott.
