Earl Parker Jr., 82, went home to the Lord on December 23, 2016. He entered this world on May 3, 1934 in Albuquerque, NM, born to Earl and Doris Parker. He was raised in Estancia, NM, moving to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico where he joined the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corp and received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. After receiving his degree, Earl deployed and served from 1955 to 1959 as a communications specialist on the U.S.S. Hornet. Upon finishing his military service, Earl returned to Albuquerque where he was hired by Albuquerque Public Schools. His first teaching position was at John Adams Junior High where he met Beverly Hibbetts, the woman who would become his loving wife of almost 53 years. He went on to teach at Valley High School and Cleveland Middle School before retiring in 1989. A former student recalled the type of man Earl was, "Because of him I was able to become the person I am today. He gave me inspiration to come out of my shell and excel in my life. He was a true teacher and taught me life lessons." Earl was a caring and loving individual who brought much joy into the lives of those around him. He will be greatly missed.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his sons, Eric, Todd, Guy and wife, Kimberly of Albuquerque; daughter, Lillian Kim Franklin and husband, Keith of Phoenix; and grandchildren, Mark Franklin and wife, Danielle, Amanda Franklin, Killian Parker and Lora Parker. His wish was that no public services be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Animal Humane New Mexico in his memory.
