A CLASSLESS Lobo basketball fan hurling disparaging remarks at a college coach. This fan showed no etiquette and a total lack of respect for his fellow man. Sorry to read that a number of Lobo fans think this despicable behavior is OK at The Pit. Is this what they mean by “New Mexico true”? The fan should apologize to the coach and the Fresno State team. Welcome to the Land of Enchantment.

I HAD THE opportunity to attend the grand opening of the Lobo baseball team’s new state of the art RD and Joan Dale Hubbard Clubhouse. The facility is a gorgeous, second to none, crown jewel for Lobo baseball and will be a tremendous tool for recruiting the caliber of kids that will allow us to realize our ultimate goal: The College World Series. Congrats to Coach Birmingham, assistant Coach Jacome and the entire program. Keep up the great work and best of luck in making it to ...... Omaha! Omaha!

RAY BIRMINGHAM or Bob Davie. Ray B goes to a meaningful post season tournament. Bob D prefers no one else uses his locker room and wanted the insignificant bowl. Ray B is humble winning conference titles Bob D wins a 3 way div title but nothing important. Ray B recruits a nice blend NM kids and other states. Bob D has overlooked many deserving locals and prefers Billy Joe Jim Bob’s. Congratulations Ray B and a true NM team on your new facilities.

IT DOESN’T TAKE a genius to know that a New Mexico school has never won a national title in football. New Mexico State does have a Final Four Banner, 1970. And the Aggies have a total of 5 Sweet Sixteen appearances. I have to give you Univ. of Tennessee’s lone official, unclaimed NCAA title in football, back when Ike was in the White House (1956).

I HAVE A FRIEND, Charlie, who was raised in Minnesota ( Big 10 country) and graduated from Vanderbilt (SEC country) who claims the LOBO fans ARE THE BEST! He reasons that no other teams perennially in the top 25 in attendance has been rewarded with less success than we have. Yet LOBO fans are still rabid in their support without the elusive sweet 16 finish.

DAVIE FAN Davie clearly avoided playing with the big boys in a bowl game by campaigning to stay on his home field against a mediocre opponent. His non conference schedule was all teams in the bottom 20 worst teams in the country and a div1 AA team. The mountain west is baaaaad! NM has 10 to 15 deserving d1 scholarship kids each season just ask all the empty chairs at the stadium. No I’m not a naysayer just a realist that wants Davie gone.
