AT BOOKWORKS: Ron Licari will talk about “The Power of Ten: Ten Diverse Human Attributes, Ten Unique Spiritual Opportunities, Ten Transformative Powers” at 3 today.

The Power of Ten is an inspired work that successfully intersects dimensional theology, spiritual theory, and temporal existence.

Dos Gatos Press publisher and editor Scott Wiggerman and David Meischen will present “Wingbeats,” a free monthly poetry writing workshop featuring writing prompts from their series of anthologies, Wingbeats, which feature exercises from award-winning authors at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Hazel Thornton will discuss “Hung Jury,”a newly republished account of the notorious Menéndez trial, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12.

On June 28, 1993, Thornton showed up for the first day of jury selection. She didn’t know she would spend the next seven months as a juror on one of the year’s most high-profile murder trials: the People v. Erik Menendez. Erik Menendez and his brother, Lyle, were on trial for killing their parents in their Beverly Hills home. Thornton began keeping her journal as a way of getting the trial out of her system every day, so she could sleep at night without being haunted by the day’s testimony. And, sworn to shoulder the burden of silence, she used the journal to help sort out the barrage of details. A behind-the-scenes witness, Thornton describes with lucidity, charm, and humor the day-to-day experiences of a juror.

Anna LaForge will sign “Pelion Preserved” at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14.

For generations, Pelion has been a city of rumor across the land, guarded and hidden behind its walls. Yet for the past hundred years,

Pelion has opened its gates to seekers from foreign realms, returning those transformed by the Gift of the Sowers to use their new skills in towns, villages, and scattered settlements spread across a vast, empty continent. But not all transformations are successful ones. The Nineteenth Mother of Pelion’s stewardship begins in tragedy and unheard-of murder, an event that leaves one dead and another driven mad.
