A different inauguration

-

THROUGHOUT MY adult life, I’ve always looked forward to the presidential inaugurations and watching how the transfer of the power of the presidency takes place.

Watching the festivities that take place on this day always reminded me that, no matter what political party takes over, there was always the hope that this country would be led by someone who had the best interests of all people of this country.

This year’s presidential inauguration has a much different feel for me. A person who belittles people with disabilities; who believes he is the only person who can solve the country’s problems; who divides people; who belittles people of color, which will include myself; who wants to build walls; and who is so in love with himself is being inaugurated.

With these characteristics, he is not going to have time to look after our country’s interests. He will continue to belittle people and will prioritize his own interests over ours.

I will be spending this upcoming inauguration day doing something else other than watching TV. ROBERT CARR Albuquerque
