SPORTS SPEAK UP!

-

SPORTS WRITERS and fickle fans blaming Coach Neal for Saturday’s loss … Nevada got nine points off bank shots from NBA range! That’s not bad coaching, that’s lucky shots that sometimes happen! — Jakem115

TO THOSE READERS who have been complaining that Sports Speak Up is too negative, I’m positive the latest Lobo men’s loss will generate a lot of positive comments — that Noodles positively has to go! — BigChris

UNM LOBOS fans to Coach Noodles: Pasta la vista, baby! — Granny V

FOR 3½ QUARTERS Lobos looked like conference champs. Young players really stepped up and played great. Too bad there was a curfew because it looked like the cherry and silver fell asleep. Got to get that killer instinct and play to win...not to not lose. Still have my reservations for Vegas because this years MWC Tourney will be wide open. Anybody can win it. Bounce Back Lobos! — TTrujillo

DESPITE ALL THAT happened Sat. night vs. NV, at the very end of regulation, with 7-8 seconds to go, Neal should have had Kuiper in the game instead of Logwood who is not a good freethrow shooter. Perhaps a timeout to make that change and design an inbounds play to get the ball to Brown should have been the strategy? — Old Lobo Fan

KREB$$$ SHOULD give some of his OVERPAID SALARY to HELP buy out Neal. He won’t. — MHD

LOBOS SQUANDERED a 24 point lead and all Coach Neal could only say was “well, a team has to learn how to finish games.” ?????? Really? How about coaching them the last 4 minutes? How about double teaming Nevada’s sharp shooters? How about throwing a zone at them? Coach Neal did nothing to teach our Lobos how to WIN! — Vicki C, Loyal Lobo Fan

JUST WONDERING if it’s OK with Tom Decoster for fans to use the term unraveled for his mighty Lobos now? — Brad

MOST EMBARRASSING loss in the 55 years I’ve been following UNM basketball. Players lost the game, but give the coach an assist. Neal has said he can’t coach effort, but it appears he also can’t coach discipline, composure or how to close the deal. I’ve been giving Neal the benefit of the doubt, but the clock hit 0:00 Saturday night. — Independent Cuss

THIS TEAM has to be one of the worst defensive teams in the nation. The Lobos couldn’t stop RFK Charter School from making a 3 pointer. Even when Alford was coach they could not stop the 3 point shot. Once again I witness a coach not wanting to foul at the end of a game — but instead let the other team shoot a 3 to tie. Charter School teams play better defense. This team will be lucky to finish .500. No NCAA yet again! Hopefully Neal will be gone soon. — KB

PERHAPS COACH Neal should focus less on hobnobbing with movie stars or walking his mutt around the Pit, and focus more on coaching, especially defense. — DSed

MHD NOTED that the Lady Lobos “are rolling, the men are not” which is not unusual. So how about they swap coaches for a few weeks? It might resolve some questions about the UNM roundball programs, not to mention offering an interesting subject for “reality TV.” — Brian, Albuquerque

BE VERY CAREFUL Cowboy Fan, you may have gotten what you wished for. Best gunslinger is an AR-12, it’ll come to Big “D” with a (crowd) silencer. — JJK, ABQ

ANOTHER BAD weekend for the NFL. Four blowout playoff games. Unwatchable. Hopefully the next round will produce some entertainment and maybe even a little drama... — Uptown Ed

TJP, AT ISSUE in the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals was not ball PSI, but Roger Goodell’s scope of decision making power in arbitration. — Patricia Murphy

WALLY SCHULTZ wow! Every thing you said about lobo football is true especially playing a patsy in the insignificant bowl but wanting the program disbanded is harsh. I just want Bob Davie fired and a good Coach hired that would respect the deserving scholarship athletes of NM. —Mo not an attorney
