The epic 1989 miniseries “Lonesome Dove” was shot primarily at Angel Fire, San Ildefonso Pueblo and both the Eaves and Bonanza Creek movie ranches, guest curator Paul Hutton said. It starred Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones and Diane Lane.

Long before the international success of “Breaking Bad,” several TV productions were either set or filmed in New Mexico. “The Rifleman” (1958-1963) starred Chuck Connors as a widowed New Mexico rancher, although it was filmed in California. A 1959 children’s tie-in book, along with “TV Guide” covers, sits next to a Rifleman Ranch play set in the show.

The exhibit features Michael’s Blake’s handwritten script for the Oscar-winning “Dances With Wolves.” A former University of New Mexico journalism student, Blake was washing dishes in Bisbee, Ariz., when he received the call giving the production a green light.

Roy Rogers’ 1929 guitar hangs with his green embroidered “Bullet the Wonder Dog” shirt.

Pat Boone and James Mason starred in “Journey to the Center of the Earth” in 1959. “You got there through a cave in Carlsbad Caverns,” Hutton said.

“Easy Rider” (1969) plays like a Western with two bikers. Starring Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda, it became a counterculture classic with the breakout role that made Jack Nicholson a star. Hopper shot much of the film in New Mexico, especially in Taos, with scenes also filmed in Madrid, Las Vegas and Santa Fe. “Easy Rider” was placed on the National Film Registry in 1998. The exhibit features a publicity still autographed by Fonda.
