Michigan State tops Wisconsin

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Nick Ward had 22 points and nine rebounds, Miles Bridges had 17 points and Matt McQuaid added a season-high 15 to help Michigan State beat No. 16 Wisconsin 84-74 on Sunday.

The Spartans (18-11, 10-6 Big Ten) have won six of their last eight games, moving them into a third-place tie in the conference and perhaps sealing their spot in a 20th straight NCAA Tournament.

The Badgers (22-7, 11-5) have lost four of five and lost a chance to pull into a firstplace tie with No. 14 Purdue.

Wisconsin’s Nigel Hayes scored 22 points, Bronson Koenig had 17 and Zak Showalter added 15.

(7) LOUISVILLE 88, SYRACUSE 68: In Louisville, Ky., Donovan Mitchell made six 3-pointers for 25 points, Ray Spalding added 18 points with 11 rebounds and the Cardinals (23-6, 11-5 ACC) shot 57 percent to pull away for a victory over the Orange (17-13, 9-8).

60: In South Bend, Ind., Bonzie Colson had 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Fighting Irish (22-7, 11-5 ACC) beat the Yellow Jackets (16-13, 7-9).

(22) BUTLER 88, XAVIER 79: In Cincinnati, Kelan Martin had another big game, scoring 25 points, and the Bulldogs (23-6, 12-5 Big East) pulled away in the closing minutes for a victory over the Musketeers (18-11, 8-8).

(2) MARYLAND 93, MINNESOTA 60: In College Park, Md., the Terrapins (27-2, 15-1) clinched at least a share of the Big Ten regular-season title, beating Golden Gophers (14-15, 5-11). Maryland senior Brionna Jones had 24 points and 14 rebounds. TENNESSEE 82, (3) MISSISSIPP­I STATE 64: In Starkville, Miss., Jaime Nared scored a career-high 30 points and Diamond DeShields added 20 as the Lady Vols (19-10, 10-6 SEC) earned a surprising­ly easy victory over the Bulldogs (27-3, 13-3).

“It re-establishe­s who we are,” DeShields said. “It sends a message to everybody who doubted Tennessee, who had anything bad to say about Tennessee.”

(5) NOTRE DAME 79, (8) FLORIDA STATE 61: In South Bend, Ind., Brianna Turner scored 24 points to lead the Irish (27-3, 15-1) to their fourth straight ACC regular-season title with a win over FSU (25-5, 13-3 ACC).

(7) SOUTH CAROLINA 95, (22) KENTUCKY 87: In Columbia, S.C., A’ja Wilson had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Kaela Davis added 20 points as the Gamecocks (24-4, 14-2) earned their fourth straight SEC title with a win over the Wildcats (20-9, 11-5).

(8) STANFORD 65, OREGON 59: In Eugene, Ore., Erica McCall had 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Cardinal (25-5, 15-3 Pac-12) beat the Ducks (18-11, 8-9).

(10) OREGON STATE 71, CALIFORNIA 56: In Corvallis, Ore., Sydney Wiese scored 19 points as the Beavers (27-3, 16-2 Pac-12) clinched the league regular-season title outright with a win over the Golden Bears (18-12, 6-12).
