INTRIGUE IN THE

- — Gino B, Española

(Boys 1A) all northeastern NM basketball final, Springer vs. Maxwell: Maxwell hasn’t reached this point since kids were ushered into hallways for nuke bomb safety drills. Also, can Maxwell’s Coach Eloy capture a “triangle trifecta?” Having won championships in Cimarron and Springer, leading Maxwell to a state championship would put him, possibly, in a stand-alone coaching category: winning championships at three schools, all within a 20 mile radius.

HOW ABOUT ADDING a new Beatitude for Lobo fans: “Blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.” — Granny V

IT TAKES A LOT of nerve for coach Neal to say that his technical and Brown’s flagrant foul had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. If the Lobos had those extra points during the last two minutes of the game they could have dictated the strategy with a real chance of winning. — TT

AS A UNM student for the first 9 years of the Pit (through grad school) and then as a loyal alum for 41 years, there have been some really difficult teams to watch, but because of unmet expectations, talent wasted and apparent lack of will to win, this may have been the worst one ever in 50 years. — Out of patience, tired of mediocrity, won’t be back!

YES, BROWN did cost the Lobos the game yesterday, and many others this season… of 21 during the first 39 minutes when the game was being decided, along with a Flagrant One (foul). … The award Brown should have received this year is MWC most overrated player. — Allan, father of an attorney

ONE AND DONE three years in a row. Noodles likes the way the program is going. That’s what we will hear as long as he is the leader. Up by 12 and lose by 5 … EB won’t stay for his senior year, go play for someone who can coach. — JG

by Paul Krebs that Craig Neal is coming back is pure nonsense. The fact is, Krebs couldn’t afford the buyout. So who’s going to evaluate Krebs and ask him why he gave Neal a 2 year contract extension after Neal’s first season in 2013-14? Ex UNM President Robert Frank’s tweet about the Lobos not being able to win 20 games might have been a telling statement. Thanks to the UNM Regents, UNM instead now has an interim president who is basically powerless in the situation. Top 25 in attendance? How about Top 75? —’72 Lobo
