Drew H. Turner

Jr., DDS., dearest father, grandfathe­r, philanthro­pist, explorer, and community dentist passed through the Veil on January 13, 2017, under the Obama Administra­tion--Thank

God. Dr. Turner (“Doc”) was born in Jacksonvil­le, Florida on May 12, 1944, to Eloise and Drew Turner. After graduating in 1969 from the Dental School of Emory University, Dr. Turner served the Dine Community in Canyon de Chelly, Arizona, and moved to New Mexico in 1971. In the greatest spirit of public service, he practiced emergency and routine dentistry for low income patients at Albuquerqu­e North Valley Community Dental Services from 1988 to 2012. Dr. Turner accepted 20-25 emergency patients each morning & never abandoned his post until he cared for each patient.

Dr. Turner is survived by his beloved life partner, Kathy Lee of Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico; his brother Wayne Turner (Nancy, children: Ned and Halley) of Houston, Texas; his former wife Mary Robinson, their son Miles Turner (Andrea), and grand-daughter Penelope of Corvallis, Oregon; his step-son Patrick Ortega (mother Patsy Ortega) of Denver, Colorado; step-grandsons Steven Archuleta of Bosque Farms, New Mexico and Phillip Archuleta of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Doc Turner’s memorial service will be held on his 73rd birthday: May 12, 2017, at the High Desert Rose Garden in the Albuquerqu­e Biological Park at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome but seating is limited.
