FILM CREW TO HIT NEW MEXICO ROADS
Independent production to feature Mulroney, Sinise, Rabe
Filming of the road movie “Will Gardner” will take place in several locations around the state.
New Mexico snagged another independent film.
And this one will be filmed in five locations. The New Mexico Film Office announced that “Will Gardner” will begin principal photography this month and finish by the end of May.
The production will film in Albuquerque, Belen, Zia Pueblo, Santa Ana Pueblo, Gallup and the Jemez Mountains. “This is a really intriguing production, a road trip movie that will showcase many New Mexico landscapes, including three Pueblo communities, the Jemez Mountains and Gallup,” said New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “Once
again, New Mexico’s diversity of landscapes and cultures is a huge asset to the film industry.”
“Will Gardner” is the story of an Iraq War veteran — suffering from traumatic brain injury — who takes a spirited motorcycle trip across America picking up pieces of his life lost since combat.
Max Martini will direct and star in the film.
According to the New Mexico Film Office, the production will employ about 60 New Mexico crew members, 10 New Mexico principal actors and about 130 New Mexico background talent workers.
“We are very excited about the upcoming film production of ‘Will Gardner’ shooting in New Mexico. The geography of Gallup should enhance the beauty of the film,” Gallup Mayor Jackie McKinney said. “I am also confident that the supportive citizens of our area will connect to the emotional story being told.”
Starring alongside Martini will be Omari Hardwick, Lily Rabe, Elisabeth Röhm, Dermot Mulroney, Gary Sinise and JoBeth Williams.
Local principal actors include Luis Bordonada and Georgina Lightning.
According to Mona Vista Productions, 30 percent of the film’s profits will be distributed to three charities that assist soldiers suffering from traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder and homelessness.
