Jalen Harris, a 6-foot-1 point guard from North Carolina who started 18 games for the University of New Mexico this past season, will be oneand-done for the Lobos.

Harris announced on his Twitter page late Friday he will be transferring to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks, where he was on a recruiting visit the past two days.

“Blessed to announce that I have committed to the University of Arkansas,” Harris wrote.

Harris averaged 4.5 points, 2.3 assists and 0.8 steals in 31 games as a true freshman for UNM, including 18 starts. He struggled shooting at times, hitting 43.9 percent of his shots from the floor and just 25.9 percent from 3-point range, but showed promise with his speed and ability to get in the paint.

He scored in double figures three times with a season high of 15 points in a Jan. 7 overtime loss to Nevada.

Harris was one of four Lobos (Harris, Elijah Brown, Anthony Mathis and Sam Logwood) to announce he would transfer after the season before Craig Neal was fired March 31. Since Paul Weir was hired April 11, another (Xavier Adams) has transferred while two (Logwood and Mathis) have said they want to return to the Lobos. Brown still plans to transfer.

UNM now has three open scholarships available for the 2017-18 season.

In the past two weeks, guards Antino Jackson, a 5-11 graduate transfer point guard from Akron, and Troy Simons, a 6-1 combo guard who led the nation in scoring for junior college players at Polk State College in Florida, have each committed to play for Weir.
