SPORTS SPEAK UP!

- sporrttsspeakuupp@aabbqqjojouurnrnaal.cl.ocmom

I AM NOT surprised at all about what is going on at ESPN. As soon as they started interjecting the parent company’s political views into the sports entertainment arena, the downfall started. American sports maniacs like me enjoy sports networks to escape from all the PC, political, economic and the drum beats of war and global crises. By tainting sports reporting and shows/games with political BS, ESPN sealed (its) own fate . ... Oh, BTW, Bruce Jenner will always be a man, Courage award, what a joke. — JJK in ABQ

I WONDER IF Patricia Murphy (Patriots fan) was giving her TV the “middle finger salute” to Roger Goddell while Philly fans were booing him loudly live as the draft began? — MHD

HOW APPROPRIATE if the Pit’s new sponsor is Waste Management. The Sports Department at UNM stinks to high heaven. — Patricia Patriot Murphy

MR. KREBS, tear down this signage! (And don’t put anything back up in its place.) As then CBS TV’s Brent Musburger exclaimed in 1983 during the telecast of the Final Four: “This is the Pit! This is Albuquerque!” — N.M. Old Timer

WATCH IT, Fading Lobo Fan. You should be so lucky as to “come here from Bowling Green, Ohio”; home of legendary D-1 football coaches Doyt Perry and Urban Meyer, college and NBA stars Nate Thurmond and Howard Komives, hockey great Ken Morrow, and track star and Olympic gold medal winner Dave Wottle. Not to mention the best Lake Erie perch at Kaufmanns restaurant you will ever eat. — Allan, father of an attorney and BGSU alum

TO FADING LOBO FAN: The fact that Krebs is a knucklehead who couldn’t administer a athletic program at an elementary school level has nothing to do with his being from Bowling Green, OH. — B.G.S.U alum

ISAAC, EVIDENTLY during your time at the convent preparing for sainthood you missed all the PRIVATE so-called “locker room talk” and bragging favored by many, many of the guys I’ve been around (women do it to, by the way). As mentioned, I respect football player Alan Branch’s choice. My problem is with the hypocritical, racist morons. — Mike, Albuquerque

I NEED TO GET this off of my chest. I think the folks (NY and Philly) that continually boo Roger Goodell because they think it’s chic, or the cool thing to do, or whatever are rude and totally ruin the NFL Draft experience. That continual booing just irritates me no end. I’m no huge Goodell fan, but the man has a job to do. It was funny four or five years ago, but It’s NOT OK anymore ... I say just enjoy the NFL Draft experience and get over that! — MarkD

I ASSUME AU Is correct that APS student athletes do not use their cell phones during a game, during practice, or even in the locker room. On the other hand, just how many kids who are addicted to their phones (not all are) participate in sports? — Brian, Albuquerque
