Run for the Zoo is today

The New Mexico BioPark Society’s annual Run for the Zoo takes place today with a series of races, beginning with a half-marathon at 7 a.m. and a 1-mile fun run at 11 a.m. at courses around the zoo.

BioPark events director Taylor Pellegrini said the event typically reaches its 12,000-participant limit during early registration. Those numbers were down, though 10,000 people had registered as of Friday.

The Run for the Zoo is the BioPark’s secondlargest annual fundraiser (River of Lights is the largest) and brings in roughly $200,000.
