Altidore’s PK tops Sounders

Dynamo blasts leaguelead­ing Orlando City

SEATTLE — Jozy Altidore earned and scored on a penalty kick early in the first half, and short-handed Toronto FC beat the Seattle Sounders 1-0 on Saturday in a rematch of last year’s MLS Cup final.

Altidore was the best player on the field with his side playing without star Sebastian Giovinco, and starters Victor Vazquez and Eriq Zavaleta. Even though Seattle dominated possession, Altidore and Toronto (5-14) had the best chances at goal and earned a minor bit of payback for last year’s cup final.

Altidore’s goal came in the 23rd minute after he was chopped down from behind by defender Roman Torres in the penalty box.

Seattle (2-3-4) saw its 14-game home unbeaten streak end.

FC DALLAS 3, REAL SALT LAKE 0:

In Sandy, Utah., Maximilian­o Urruti scored two goals and 21-year-old Jesse Gonzales had his fourth shutout of the season in FC Dallas’ (5-0-3) victory over Real Salt Lake (2-6-2).

DYNAMO 4, ORLANDO CITY 0: In Houston, Mauro Manotas had two goals and an assist in the second half to help Houston beat MLS-leading Orlando City.

Houston (5-3-1) led 1-0 at halftime. Orlando City dropped to 6-3-0.

UNION 3, RED BULLS 0: In Chester, Pa., C.J. Sapong scored three times in 11 minutes late in the second half to help Philadelph­ia win for the first time this season.

Andre Blake made four saves for the Union (1-4-4). The Red Bulls (5-51) outshot Philadelph­ia 14-11. EARTHQUAKE­S 3, TIMBERS 0: In

San Jose, Calif., Chris Wondolowsk­i scored two goals, reaching 125 for his career, and the Earthquake­s (4-3-3) smothered Portland (5-3-2).

David Bingham made four saves in blanking the Timbers, who had a league-leading 20 goals coming into the game.

IMPACT 1, D.C. UNITED 0: In Washington, Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla scored in the 13th minute and Montreal held on to beat D.C. United (3-4-2) for its first road victory.

The win was the first in six regular-season visits to D.C. for Montreal (2-3-4). CREW 2, REVOLUTION 0: In Columbus, Ohio, Ola Kamara had a goal and an assist and Zack Steffen made five saves for his third shutout, leading Columbus past New England.

Columbus improved to 5-4-1, and New England dropped to 2-4-4.

GALAXY 2, FIRE 2: In Carson, Calif., Giovani dos Santos and Daniel Steres scored second-half goals and Los Angeles rallied to tie Chicago.

Los Angeles is 2-5-2 and Chicago is 3-3-3. NWSL: In Portland, Ore., Allie Long scored on a header in the 82nd minute as the host Portland Thorns pulled into a 2-2 draw with the rival Seattle Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League on Saturday before a crowd announced at 16,160.
