Party sends mom up on the roof

A sendup party including music, food and a car show is planned for Shonna Jordan from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Motiva Performance, 6919 Montgomery NE.

The celebration launches Jordan’s weeklong stay on the Motiva rooftop to bring attention to homelessness.

Jordan will live on Motiva’s roof from Sunday afternoon until May 14, Mother’s Day. During the same period Jordan’s mother, Ronna Jordan, will be living on a rooftop in Farmington. They are raising money for Houses With Hope, a nonprofit that helps people in New Mexico and Africa.

This year’s drive will aid Albuquerque’s Barrett House, a shelter for homeless women and children. Funds also will be used to build homes for widows caring for orphans in Kenya.
