Kevin Bert Estrada, April
27, 1965 – February 28, 2017, a longtime resident of New York City, died February 28, 2017.
He is survived by his brother, Samuel Estrada and wife, Sharon, sister, Naomi Campos, MD and husband, Joe, sister, Valda Keliikuli and husband, William, and partner Cuman Cropper, niece Donna Campos and partner Jake Hernandez, nephews, Kamuela Keliikuli and wife Claudia, Kawika Keliikuli, Daniel Keliikuli and wife Rebecca, Zechariah Keliikuli, nieces, Amanda Estrada, Nicolette Estrada and Isabella Estrada, great nephews Andres Plata, Joe Ray Plata, Zechariah Keliikuli, and William Kamuela Keliikuli and great niece Sofia Keliikuli.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father Abelino Samuel Estrada (1997), mother Bertha Naomi Duran Estrada (2014), Uncle Carlos Duran (2000) & Aunt Sostena Duran (2005).
Kevin was a Registered Architect in New York having received his Bachelor of Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology (1990) and Master of Science Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University (1993). Kevin had lived and worked in New York City since 1992. Kevin was a passionate and brilliant architect, inventor, and lover for all things neon and translucent. Kevin, partner and director of architecture at Weetu, was also in love with teaching at Parsons. He got so much joy from his students. He filled the Weetu studio with laughter & positivity, always finding the silver lining. Nobody made him happier than his life partner of over 10 years, Cuman Cropper & dogs Bean & Pepita. Kevin’s smile, wit, humor, intelligence, defiance, empathy and creative genius will be missed. The world will not be the same without him in it; he touched so many lives in his short but illustrious career.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated May 16, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho NM 87124. His cremains will be buried May 17, 2017 in Chacon NM at 1:00 p.m.
