Tower, Sally "Magaw"

Sally "Magaw" Tower, 83, beloved mother, grandmothe­r, and great grandmothe­r, was called to the Lord on May 2nd, 2017.

She was born on February 10th,

1934 in Placitas,

NM, to her parents Martin and Mary Gurule.

She had a profound love for basketball as a young child and continued to play throughout her life even all the way to the Senior Olympics. She also threw javelin and shot put in the Track and Field events. In her early twenties, she was a female wrestler and continued to be a committed fan and lover of all athletic sports. She loved her Golden State Warriors, Red Skins, and the Harlem Globetrott­ers, which she saw in person on her 82nd birthday at Santa Ana.

Sally took pride in her ability to cook. She would prepare meals in excess, just in case her beloved family members or a friendly neighbor decided to stop by. She was known for making the best beans, red chili, and handmade tortillas on this side of the Rio Grande. Sally was a cherished employee for 44 years working at Lovelace Medical Center as an OR Technician. She treated all of her coworkers as family.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Julia Cheville and husband, Joe Cheville; son Roy Tower and wife, Julie Tower; daughter Rose Tower, and son James Morris and wife, Julie Morris; sister’s Ruth Nieto and Angie; Jerry Gurule & George Gurule (deceased); brother Martin Gurule. Grandchild­ren include Skye Martin, Cheyenne Martin, Amber Tower, Austin Tower, Clayton Carpenter (deceased) and Monica Morris; great-grandchild­ren include Cora Martin and Audriana Carpenter. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
