SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Giants needed a lengthy outing from Matt Moore, and he delivered.

Moore, a Moriarty High alumnus, pitched into the eighth inning, and Brandon Belt and Justin Ruggiano homered as the Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 on Saturday in a matchup of exhausted teams.

San Francisco and Cincinnati had a quick turnaround after they played 17 innings Friday night, with the Giants winning 3-2 on Buster Posey’s homer.

Moore (2-4) provided a lift with 7⅓ innings of one-run ball. He allowed eight hits, struck out seven and walked three.

“It was really needed for us for him to get us deep in the game,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “He really gave us a little more than I thought, to be honest.”

DODGERS 4, ROCKIES 0: In Denver, Alex Wood struck out 10 in six innings and drove in a run with a well-placed bunt on a squeeze play to lead Los Angeles past Colorado.

Wood (4-0) fanned at least one batter in five of his six innings and struck out the side in the third en route to reversing a dismal history at Coors, where he had gone 0-2 with an 11.25 ERA in four previous starts.

Martinez drove in Tommy Pham on a squeeze bunt in the third inning and doubled leading off the fifth inning. In his previous start May 8, he drove home four runs and had two hits, including a double.

Top Chicago prospect Ian Happ homered off Martinez in the seventh for his first hit in his major league debut.

ROYALS 4, ORIOLES 3: In Kansas City, Mo., Nate Karns struck out a career-high 12 in five innings, and Eric Hosmer reached base four times as Kansas City beat Baltimore.

Karns is the first in franchise history to strike out 12 in five innings.
