COACHING

NEW TO THE TEAM: West Las Vegas High School has found a replacement for boys basketball coach David Bustos in former Dons assistant coach Clyde Sanchez, who was 18-37 in two seasons at Santa Fe Prep. “Clyde has the experience and knowledge we were looking for in a head coach,” said WLV athletic director Richard Tripp. “He is very familiar with the program and we feel our program will continue to be one of the top in 4A.”

The Dons also have a new volleyball coach in West Las Vegas alum Felix Flores, who has been coaching at the club level in Colorado. “We are very excited to have Felix as our volleyball coach,” Tripp said of the school’s fifth head coach in as many seasons. “We feel confident that he can get us to the level (that) we can be.”

During Night Sky Fiesta, visitors will have the chance to do both daylight and nighttime astronomy. The evenings will begin with a ranger presentation, followed by a “Telescope Sandbox,” in which visitors have the chance to learn how to operate telescopes, including using star charts to point the scope at particular objects in the night sky. On Saturday, camping will be free at Juniper Campground.

Then, each day at 8:30 p.m., there will be a special program at the Juniper Campground Amphitheater. For more information, check the park website at nps.gov/band, the Facebook page at BandelierNPS or call the Bandelier Visitor Center at 672-3861 ext. 517.
