Brittenham, Madeline Sigrid Sofia Lindstrom

-

Madeline was born on August 15, 1925 in the Bronx, NY to Otto and Tyra Lindstrom and left this world on June 26, 2017, at home, surrounded by family. She was a first generation American, with her parents having immigrated from Sweden and Finland. In addition to her parents, her siblings Mildred, Alfred, George, Arnie, Doris, Bob & Walter & her husband of 49 yrs, Edward, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children Steve Brittenham (Heidi), Wes Brittenham (Sally), Robert Brittenham, and Linda Muhlberger (Joe) as well as her grandsons Alex Brittenham, and Andrew and Evan Muhlberger. She is also survived by her sister, Ethel Ferraro, her brother, Eddie Lindstrom and many nieces and nephews.

Madeline was a devout Yankee fan who had the good fortune to watch DiMaggio play. She was still keeping up with the "new team - without Jeter" and was happy to discuss the box scores and stats on any given day.

Although she had lived in Albuquerque for over 50 years, she still considered herself a New Yorker. She was a woman of great faith, strength and courage. She was a survivor of more than you know. She was a champion of her children and grandchildren, supported all their adventures and was there with a Band-Aid when they needed it. Despite her declining health, she maintained her positive attitude until the very end.

Madeline’s family would like to thank Dr. Camilla Tapia, for her care over the years, and the staff of Ambercare Hospice – especially her nurse, Joseph Vigil, and her aid, Yvette Givens. With the assistance of these two individuals, her time on hospice maintained her dignity and provided her family immeasurable assistance.

Cremation has taken place and there will a celebration of her life on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris St. NE, at 2:00 p.m. Internment will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Madeline, to the Albuquerque Christian Children’s Home or to the charity of your choice.
