1936-2017 Edna M. Bicsey (nee Huffman), 80, of Napa, California, and formerly of Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, died peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2017, following a short battle with cancer.

Edna was born on June 28, 1936, one of five children of Everett and Linnie Huffman. She spent her high school years working at the family restaurant, the Jericho, in Pt. Pleasant, WV, and dancing the jitterbug. She settled in the Columbus, Ohio area and worked for many years in the accounting field while raising a family. For over twenty years, Edna and her husband, John D. ("Jack") Bicsey, lived in Westervill­e, Ohio, where they attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church. They moved to Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico in 2001, where they attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Following Jack’s death, Edna began volunteeri­ng with the Albuquerqu­e Department of Senior Affairs at Bear Canyon Senior Center and Palo Duro Senior Center, and was honored as volunteer of the year. In May 2017, Edna moved to Napa, California, where she was surrounded by family during her brief illness.

Edna is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Holdren, of Westervill­e, Ohio, and Leigh Kenny, of Nicasio, California; by six grandchild­ren; by 11 greatgrand­children, by her sister, Sally Conard, of North Carolina, and by her sisterin-law, Joan Bicsey, of Pennsylvan­ia.

The family is planning a private memorial service in California. Edna’s entire life was marked by her dedication to her family and by her desire to serve others; please donate to a charity of your choice to honor her values and service.
