Lobos fall in four at Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of New Mexico volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Toledo Friday evening, falling 21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-25 to cap the opening day of the Blue/Gold Invitational.
Despite a double-double from Lauren Twitty and three players registering double-digit digs, the Lobos (7-4) struggled to find sustained consistency against the tournament host Rockets (5-6) inside Savage Arena.
… Earlier Friday, the Lobos handled Youngstown State (5-7) by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) score.
NMSU: In Tucson, New Mexico State’s volleyball team lost a five-set heartbreaker against host Arizona Friday in the Wildcat Classic by scores of 25-20, 22-25, 16-25, 21-25 and 15-11.
Kassandra Tohm had 17 kills while Jordan Abalos added 15.
Earlier Friday, the 6-4 Aggies suffered a humbling 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19 loss to Illinois State (5-6).
Tatyana Battle and Kassandra Tohm recorded eight kills each. Briana Ainsworth led the team with 14 assists and also served the Aggies’ lone ace.
