Rose Marie Newsom, our beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r passed away peacefully on August 31, 2017 at the age of 84. Rosie was born on October 2, 1932 in San Antonio, TX to Marguerite Neill and Joseph Terry. She met the love of her life, Max Newsom, at the age of 13, while in Junior High School. Rosie and Max attended Edison High School, and married on June 5, 1951. They moved to Albuquerqu­e, NM in May of 1956, where they raised their 4 children & lived for 40 years before retiring in the San Antonio area.

Rosie was an accomplish­ed seamstress, artist and quilter. While living in Albuquerqu­e she was a member of Yucca Gallery, part owner and artist in Tumbleweed Gallery and was selected as a member into the National League of American Pen Women. When she returned to Texas, she was a member of the Universal Quilters Guild in Universal City, and was the Social Chairman at Scenic Hills in Schertz, TX for several terms. She loved to sew, paint, garden & travel. Her fun loving personalit­y, love of life and steadfast devotion to the people that she loved will always be remembered.

Rosie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Max Newsom.

She is survived by daughter Terri Newsom and husband Mike Anderson, daughter Cherri Porter and husband Al, son Mike Newsom and wife Cathy, and son Tom Newsom and wife Teri; 8 grandchild­ren and 4 great-grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at 10:30 am on September 23 at Emerald Oaks Retirement Community, 20302 Bulverde Road, San Antonio, TX 78259. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Rosie’s name to the Port Aransas Hurricane Harvey Community Relief Fund:
