Don Hand was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on November 4,
1948 to John and
Rose (Lundberg) Hand, and passed from this life too soon on October
6, 2017. Upon graduation from White Bear Lake High School in Minnesota, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Abilene, Texas, he met his future wife, Laura Coffey, whom he married after serving in Guam. Settling in Albuquerque, Don worked in the waterworks industry, followed by a career in electronics and computer repair. In addition, he and Laura established By Hand Productions, serving the community’s audio/video needs. He volunteered as a sound engineer at First United Methodist Church Albuquerque for many years, where he was instrumental in including the church youth in the audio visual program. He was always the "go-to-guy" when people needed to know how things worked. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by Laura Hand, his wife of 47 years, and his inlaws, Lisa Oliver, Lou and Mark Anthony, Claire and John Oliver-DeHaven, Ian and Brandan Oliver, Aubra and Paul Anthony-Kunz, Ayesha Anthony, and his beloved dog, Tater.
His interment will take place Friday, November 3, 2017 at 2:15 PM at the San- ta Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the Parlor of First United Methodist Church Albuquerque at 4th & Lead. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the youth program at FUMC Albuquerque.
